We were testing the car but also all the gadgets we will power in the car... the picture is of an Inverter (which changes your power supply into 12v to you can power normal electrical appliances) powering a mobile phone, a laptop, a SatNav and UHF radio... amazing what you have to plug into a 1995 car to make it ready for the 21st century...
Anyway the car performed perfectly and the new GPS tracking also was tested.. see the attached route..
The only problem is that the car has 3 fundamental weaknesses...
1) first the auto gearbox which if it fails there is nothing we can do - you cannot jump start an automatic.
2) the radiator, is mounted using plastic mounts which could shear.
3) the front suspension, some of the bushes are very worn and the car definitely judders if you hit a bump!
We are definitely going to need to nurse the car around the rally.. no burnouts or wheel spinning.. (not that we would)
Finally the car is gutless (no power) so going up hill with a full load should be very interesting!
